Just your iPhone and a guitar. RightFret works with your device’s built-in microphone right out of the box. For better accuracy in noisy environments, you can also use a USB or wired audio interface — RightFret detects your input source automatically during calibration.

Calibration measures your room’s background noise, detects whether you’re using the built-in mic or an audio interface, and profiles your guitar’s signal strength across all six strings. This means the pitch detector is pre-tuned to your specific setup before you play a single note — no other fretboard app does this.

No. Audio is processed in real-time on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. When you stop a quiz or close the tuner, audio processing stops immediately. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

All subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your iPhone, find RightFret, and tap Cancel. You’ll keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period.

Yes. RightFret includes a tap mode fallback for times when you don’t have your guitar handy or can’t play out loud. Tap the correct fretboard position on screen instead. Your mastery scores and Spacing Gate progress still track normally.

Yes, both. During calibration, RightFret profiles your specific guitar’s signal. Acoustic guitars work great with the built-in mic. Electric guitars work best through a USB audio interface, but will also work unplugged through the mic in a quiet room.

Unfortunately, no. All practice data, mastery scores, and calibration profiles are stored locally on your device and are permanently removed when you delete the app. This is by design for your privacy — we don’t store any of your data on our servers. If you reinstall, you’ll start fresh, but your subscription status will be restored automatically through Apple.
